More On Optimizing Your Reading Time

If you have taken my advice, you probably are now making use of a blog reader which will lessen the time that you spend looking at various different blogs. Another thing that I forgot to point out – a big advantage of using a blog reader is that you will not have to deal with slow load times that some blogs may have. Anyhow, what are other ways by which you can make the most out of your blog reading time?

Time management is the key. If you are like me, you sometimes find yourself too engrossed in reading other blogs and leaving comments that before you know it, hours have passed. Within those hours, you could have written posts for your own blogs! So how do you watch the time?

Be organized! Set a time limit wherein you will allow yourself to browse and read other blogs and sites. Say, an hour before you start creating your blog posts, you can start browsing and reading. Use an alarm clock to remind you that your hour is up and that you need to actually get some writing done. In this manner, you will be aware of the time and not let it go to “waste.”

Another tip would be to put your blogs on a schedule. This is particularly helpful if you follow many blogs – say like 20 or more. Naturally, you wouldn’t have enough hours in a day to read every single blog every single day. A good thing to do would be to schedule so and so blogs to be read on certain days of the week.

Make The Most Out Of Your Reading Time

More than writing actual posts for your blog, I bet that you spend a considerable amount of time reading other blogs. This is in fact one good way to get ideas for your posts. Though of course I am not advocating stealing copy, you can always get inspiration and learn lessons from reading other blogs. In fact, that is one of the tips that I mention a lot – do not isolate yourself from the rest of the blogosphere.

Anyhow, if you are like me, there might be times when you get too engrossed reading blogs and before you know it, so much time has passed! If you are running on a pretty tight schedule for most of the time, this is not a good thing. What you should do is to carry out some practices that could help you maximize your blog reading time. How do you do this?

One, find a good blog reader. It is such a waste of time to visit tons of blogs every single day. You have to input the URL and then sometimes loading times present a problem. To get around this, use a reader instead. It will aggregate all the blogs you read and you can access all of them from one single platform. I personally use Google Reader but there are other platforms out there such as Bloglines, which is proving to be one of the most popular. Try out several if you are unsure and then make your decision.
